
At Parkinson's Resources of Oregon we believe that total patient care must include the physical, emotional and social needs of each patient and family. Our Licensed Clinical Social Worker is available for consultations and support of people with Parkinson's and their loved ones.
Our aim is to strengthen the ability of people to participate constructively in their own and their family's treatment and care, and help people to identify, mobilize and use their own resources to maximize this effort. Services available include:
Brief and supportive counseling for families, couples and individuals
Patient and family education
Consultation
Community information and referral

Adjustment to diagnosis and illness
Grief and bereavement issues
Family issues and relationship problems
Psychosocial stressors
Difficulties in adhering to medical treatment plan
Legal & Financial issues
Assist with communication with healthcare team
Navigation of the public services system
Appointments and Contact Information
Anyone can access the social worker at PRO through the agency HelpLine (800-426-6806). Patients and families can also speak with their physician, nurse or any other member of the health care team to ask for a referral. Services are provided free of charge.
