Community Fundraisers
Parkinson's Resources of Oregon is incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by many "out of the box" thinkers, people that are ready and willing to jump in and help our organization spread the word about Parkinson's disease and raise money for PRO along the way.
To us, a Community Fundraiser is an event of some sort that is planned, managed, and carried out by volunteers in the community that are committed to PRO and our mission of improving quality of life. In return, PRO is able to publicize the event, offer receipts for tax-purposes to donors and help in the planning stages (if necessary). The sky can be the limit on these sorts of fundraisers. It really depends on you, your imagination, and what you're willing to bring to the table.

ONE-TIME COMMUNITY FUNDRAISERS

Fred Fest - an annual birthday party for internationally known beer writer Fred Eckhardt. In 2008 Eckhardt named PRO as his charity of choice, and $15,000 was contributed to our organization, enabling us to enhance programs and services in 2008.

Pedaling for PD - a 500 mile bike competition called Race Across Oregon by local cyclist Chad Swanson. Swanson combined his passion for cycling and his passion for PRO and raised over $2,400. Donations came in from across the United States, spreading the word and mission of PRO throughout the country.

The Little Book of Benisms - a booklet of quotes, life's ponderings and quips from former city commissioner Ben Boswell, based out of Enterprise, Oregon. The Little Book of Benisms has raised over $5,000 for PRO.

Chari-Tea for Parkinson's - This lovely event held in honor of PRO friend Gloria Hale and hosted by April and Marcus Song was the first of its kind – a high tea to raise money for PD. The Chari-Tea was held in January of 2012 and more than 25 of Gloria’s friends gathered in Battle Ground to enjoy four courses of finger foods and specially brewed tea. The Chari-Tea raised over $800, with all funds designated to Parkinson’s Resources.
