This year Parkinson's Resources of Oregon (PRO) is turning thirty. We are proud of our long history of providing help and hope to thousands of families struggling to live with this disease.
We were formed in 1980 to provide help and support for people in Oregon diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Originally run by small but dedicated group of volunteers, no one could have foreseen just how far this organization would grow, or how much of an impact it would have on the lives of not only people with PD, but their families and friends as well.
Today, Parkinson's Resources serves the entire state of Oregon and Southwest Washington, offering programs and services including: support groups, classes to enhance daily living, education programs, lending library, case management, outreach, bi-monthly newsletters, a toll-free helpline and advocacy efforts. Each year we grow, adding more programs and services than anyone could have imagined.
We are going to celebrate this milestone in PRO history all year, kicking off the festivities on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the form of a thirtieth anniversary celebration and auction that we have titled "Pearls in the Pearl." We are excited to announce that retired NBA player Brian Grant is our honorary chairperson and will be our guest presenter at this celebration. As many of you are aware, Grant was diagnosed with PD last year at the age of 37.
Our committee is working hard to gather auction items for both the silent and live auction. If you have an item you would like to donate to the event please email Erin. Popular items include: beach house / cabin usage, professional expertise, gift cards to favorite restaurants, wine, the list goes on and on!
Sponsorship packages are available now. Please contact Erin or Holly if you have sponsor suggestions or can participate by donating an auction item.
