Lane County, Oregon
Lane County has a satellite office with one fulltime staff, Libby Kennard, to coordinate educational programs & wellness classes, provide case management and assist our volunteers. PRO provides a safety net of local resources to our community. One of these is the Parkinson’s Clinic. It is a collaborative program bringing together local expertise in movement disorders to provide comprehensive evaluation when needed. Libby also provides community education programs and training for care community staff.

OUR SUPPORT GROUPS & WEEKLY MEETUPS : The wealth of information and comradery provided by our support groups is one of the most important services we offer. The Parkinson’s Plus group meets every other month and is a supplemental meeting for those with atypical disorders to share their unique issues in a smaller setting. Alternative & Complementary group has been diving into a wide array of modalities to explore complementary approaches to managing their symptoms. PRO support groups have a long history and very active community of members. We welcome newcomers and will help you get connected. Out of our main Eugene support group, our rain or shine hiking & groups began and for more social time, we have a weekly coffee group that happens to follow the Care Partner walk. They always meet at the same location and then have the option of taking the Eugene Riverfront trail or mall walking in inclement weather.

For 2016, we are planning quarterly educational programs for Deep Brain Stimulation and Speech & Swallowing Issues. Communication class happens twice per year. We will have a special creativity program to feature local artists again this year. Since exercise is always an important subject, there is going to be a sampling of all our varied options planned this summer as people gear up to back on track again with their fitness. Not only does PRO offer classes each quarter, we have no shortage of great on-going classes in the community. Call and find out what’s on the calendar or ask about options for table tennis, dancing, tai chi and community recreation programs.

What an exciting year it is going to be! There’s always something going on. Contact Libby at 541.345.2988
