DESCRIPTION:Ambiguous loss and disenfranchised grief may be unfamiliar terms, but they are not necessarily unfamiliar concepts for those with Parkinson’s, MSA, PSP, care partners, and friends. This one-hour fifteen minute presentation by Anne Richardson aims to help people understand these concepts more deeply and provide tools to cope with loss and grief.\nGrief is an emotional response to loss. People may grieve changes in ability, changes in relationships as disease progresses, or life prior to a diagnosis. Grief is a natural emotion, but it can be overwhelming at times.\nAmbiguous loss is an unclear loss that may continue without resolution or closure. Sometimes a person can’t quite put a finger on what they have lost, but the feeling of loss and sadness is present. Learning how to process grief and loss or live alongside grief and loss can be a powerful tool for people living with and affected by PD.\nThis program is offered in a hybrid format.
