Living with Parkinson’s is easier with support.

Living With Parkinson's is Easier With Support

Parkinson’s is complex and challenging, as it affects not only a person’s physical body but their emotional well-being as well. Adjustment to changing needs, grief, depression and anxiety are all concerns that can be addressed with adequate support. Through PRO, you can access the information and support necessary to deal with times of transition or distress.

Our aim is to strengthen the ability of people to participate constructively in their own or a family member’s Parkinson’s care, as well as live active and full lives.

Information & Referral

When you have questions or need confidential non-medical telephone support, we are ready with compassionate care. Our staff and volunteers will take the time to understand your situation and work with you to identify resources, connect you with local experts, or just lend a listening ear.

Our toll-free Helpline is open Monday – Friday, 9-5. You may also contact staff in the Bend or Eugene office if either is closer for you.

Call us to:

  • Find a neurologist.
  • Register for an upcoming education program.
  • Discuss options in your area for staying active.
  • Get recommendations on how to educate yourself on a PD related topic.
  • Learn more about what to expect from our local programs.

Case Management & Counseling

We believe that total patient care must include the physical, emotional and social needs of each individual as well as his or her family. Through PRO, you can access both case management and counseling services to help in times of change or crisis.

Anyone can access these services directly through PRO’s HelpLine at 800.426.6806. You may also speak with your physician, nurse or any other member of your health care team to ask for a referral. Services are provided free of charge.

Topics often addressed include:

  • Adjustment to diagnosis and PD related limitations.
  • Grief and bereavement.
  • Coping with depression, anxiety, or PD related cognitive change.
  • Facilitating support and understanding of the diagnosis among family and friends.
  • Navigation of public services system.
  • Housing and care transitions.

What They Say

"Parkinson's Resources of Oregon has been the only agency that has consistently been there for me as I care for my mother. The staff are very helpful and really care for the people who reach out to them. Sometimes I do get frustrated with the way things go. I want to thank them for how they've helped me."

Ted L

"Thanks so much for the time you spent talking to us. I'm taking your advice in several areas and it is really helping. What a blessing you have been for me."

Pat H

"Thanks for helping PRO be there for us and many of our friends. You guys really make a difference. It is not always about the big things, it most often is the little things that make all of the difference. Thank You!"

Dave S

"I want to put in writing how much I appreciate your support over the past months. Your willingness to help me navigate insurance and extend services couldn't have come at a better time. I came to you during a time of great distress and when we parted I felt stronger and more in control, ready to move forward."
