Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Salem Area

A research based program shown to reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Riding an indoor, stationary bicycle has been shown to reduce Parkinson’s disease symptoms by as much as 35%, and it is something almost anyone with Parkinson’s disease can do. Participants ride for 1 hour – a 10 minute warm-up followed by 40 minutes of training and a 10 minute cooldown. Recumbent stationary bikes available.

Fight Back with Neuromuscular Exercise, Eugene

This class engages the brain and body to encourage more fluid, balanced movement and improve strength, agility and gait. The class is ideal for individuals with neuromuscular challenges that may cause loss of balance and coordination. These classes engage the brain and body to encourage more fluid, balanced movement and improve strength, agility and gait. Those who are not independent in standing should bring someone to support them.

Parkinson’s Table Tennis, Eugene

Table tennis has been shown to improve motor symptoms of Parkinson’s and increase movement, hand-eye coordination and strength. Plus, it is fun and a great way to met others. This group is specifically for those with symptoms of Parkinson’s.

Warriors Foundations Parkinson’s Exercise Class

This class is designed for individuals who need extra support, including those who use walkers, canes, or wheelchairs. Exercises focus on improving mobility, posture, flexibility, and circulation while safely increasing strength and coordination. Movements are performed seated or standing with support as needed, emphasizing balance, rhythm, and cognitive engagement. Each session encourages confidence and independence through attainable goals and a welcoming environment that celebrates every effort. The class blends movement, music, and camaraderie to help participants maintain function, prevent decline, and feel empowered to keep moving forward.

Lift Program for Family Caregivers

Are you worried about how to help them out of bed or out of a car? Or, do you just want to be prepared for what may lie ahead?

During this hour and a half program, a physical therapist will lead you through the proper and safe techniques to transfer your loved one who has mobility issues due to Parkinson’s disease. This program is intended for family care partners only. 

There will be 5 interactive stations 1) Sit to stand 2) Transfer in and out of bed 3) Transfer in the bathroom 4) Transfers in and out of the car 5) Lastly, how to get up off the floor. Each caregiver will participate, rotating to each station and practicing with other caregivers. You will also learn when it is necessary to seek help.

Led by Kelly Becker, PT, DPT with Synapse Fitness along with other local physical and occupational therapists.

Mindful Movement with Parkinson’s (Floor), Corvallis

The class includes practice and exploration of posture, balance and fall prevention, flexibility and coordination and Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) Moves. We do seated movement practices and a significant amount of standing and stepping in many directions. We move on the floor in a variety of positions (back, front, side-lying, sitting) as well as in all fours and modified all fours positions.

In each class, we incorporate cognitive challenges, some strength training and address vocal, hand and facial issues.

The class includes practice and exploration of posture, balance and fall prevention, flexibility and coordination and Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) Moves. Our pace is appropriate for those with advanced symptoms. We do seated movement practices and some standing, if a student is able to do so safely. We also include vocal, facial and finger dexterity practice, as well as some higher intensity movement.
