More Than Motor Symptoms: Hybrid

Did you know that:

1) Around 50% of people living with Parkinson’s Disease may experience hallucinations and/or delusions during the course of their disease

2) About 90% of patients don’t proactively tell their physician about it

3) Many are familiar with the motor symptoms that people can experience with Parkinson’s disease but what may be unexpected are non-motor symptoms like hallucinations and delusion

4) There are treatments available if this is occurring

In his presentation, Dr. Kellogg will introduce the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s including hallucinations and delusions. He will describe the symptoms most often associated with Parkinson’s related hallucinations and delusions and explore how you can talk with your healthcare providers about these symptoms and establishing an effective treatment plan.

Dr. Kellogg is Chief of staff and Medical Director at Newport Bay Hospital in Newport Beach, CA. He received MD from Wright University School of Medicine in Dayton OH and completed his residency at the University of California, Irvine, CA.

This exercise program is based on the John Argue book “Parkinson’s Disease & the Art of Moving” to: increase flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination, improve communication, voice power and speech clarity. Drawing from yoga, tai chi, free-dancing and laughter yoga, this seated exercise program focuses on doing movements with ease, moving intentionally and slow completion of movements one at a time. It is great for those concerned with balance, needing the support of a chair, or simply hoping to add to an existing exercise program.

This class, and all programs at PRO, is offered with an option for scholarship registration. Similar classes in the community have registration fees of $8 – $15/session. Numerous studies reveal the benefits of the practice, including reductions in symptoms related to anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain and more. Recent studies now specifically addressing the benefits of mindfulness for Parkinson’s Disease confirm promising results.

In partnership with Washington County This MINDFUL MEDITATION CLASS is about befriending the mind so that we can to the best of our ability work with the stressors in our life. Using the breath as our guide allows us to discover our innate capacities of compassion and wisdom to work with our lives.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Quarterly Conversations

Are you considering Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and would like to hear more about it? Have you had DBS and would like to share your experience with others? Register for our quarterly Zoom DBS Conversations!

We welcome people with Parkinson’s as well as care partners to join the conversation. This group will be casual with opportunities to hear real experiences of people with Parkinson’s who have had DBS. There will be time to share and engage.

A Zoom link will be emailed to you 1 week before the meeting.

Deep Brain Stimulation is a surgical treatment option for Parkinson’s disease that implants a device that delivers electrical pulses in parts of the brain to reduce certain motor symptoms.

There will be speakers to share their knowledge and expertise at every other meeting.
