Managing Anxiety in Parkinson’s Disease

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In Parkinson’s disease, the changes to mood and emotional well-being aren’t often at the forefront. These symptoms are prevalent and important to address.

We will focus on the fact that anxiety is more common in Parkinson’s disease and often an early symptom. Learn to recognize signs and symptoms, as well as self-help and professional supports that are available and effective.

Optimizing Communication w/Your Healthcare Team

This in-person event will also offer the option to participate online.

Join us for a presentation and panel discussion with representatives from several area healthcare systems. The goal is to provide attendees with knowledge and insights that will help navigate the complexity of today’s healthcare world. Panelists will cover how to best access clinic services, discuss how to prepare for a visit with your neurologist, and explain what the most appropriate communication method is to share concerns with your healthcare team.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Quarterly Conversations

We welcome people with Parkinson’s as well as care partners to join the conversation. This group will be casual in nature with opportunities to hear real experiences of people with Parkinson’s who have had DBS. There will be time to share and engage.

During this session we will have Dr. Craigan Griffin, a neurologist from Pacific Crest Neurology, join to answer your questions about the DBS process. Read more about him below!

A Zoom link will be emailed to you 1 week prior to the meeting and will be valid for the following sessions.

Deep Brain Stimulation is a surgical treatment option for Parkinson’s disease that implants a device that delivers electrical pulses in parts of the brain to reduce certain motor symptoms.

*This group is intended for support and sharing of experiences. The subject discussed in the group is not to be taken as medical advice or as consultation for DBS. Please consult your healthcare team regarding your personal care and treatment.
